The method is free and there is no account to make: you download the file and do it with the assistant you already use.

Insurek
Which Swiss health insurance costs you least? Give it a postcode, a year of birth and a rough idea of what you spend on health care: Insurek compares every insurer, every model and every deductible available in Switzerland where you live, using the official premium data of Switzerland’s Federal Office of Public Health, and tells you which combination costs least over a year. It sells nothing, refers no one and stores nothing — it is arithmetic on public numbers. In Italian, German, French and English.

At the moment I work on my own projects and publish what I give my time to.
I have a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Technology. When I finished I did not know what work to do, and nobody could tell me. I found out by doing things and looking at how I did them — which is exactly what lucalevi’s way asks you to do, in a shorter time than mine.

A numerical and geographical model
Avalanche bulletins tell you the danger is considerable. They do not tell you where it is. This model takes the snow and weather conditions of the moment and works out which slopes are most prone to avalanche release — slope by slope, aspect by aspect, altitude by altitude. A map instead of an icon.

The CV
Python and data developer
Four years of Python and nine of SQL, from the basics to production databases, in public transport and municipal services, in Switzerland and in Italy. Before that: the degree in Udine and a spell as a research assistant at the SLF Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research in Davos.
Three working languages — Italian, English, German — and several years of professional experience in Switzerland. Available remotely and, on site, in the provinces of Udine, Gorizia and Trieste.

What I write in code is on GitHub, open.
Tools born from real problems: avalanche snow, satellite images of the land, the numbers you have to decide on. Take them, they are there for that.

Veitinger’s algorithm for potential avalanche release areas, rewritten in Python and Rust: where the snow can go, read off a terrain model.

Downloads a satellite image from Sentinel Hub and works out the average NDVI of an area: how green a piece of land is, in one number.

The code behind Insurek: which Swiss insurer, model and deductible cost least. The official FOPH premiums become JSON, and the browser does the arithmetic.
